DARE TO STOP BULLYING

Suicide rate has going up 33% in less than 20 years.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention did a study from 2007 through 2017 and reported that 17 percent of high school students are bullied and about 7 percent attempted suicide.

National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (CDC) states that the rate of suicide for children younger than 12 has rised from 31 in 1999 to 53 suicides in 2016.

Suicide was the 10th leading cause of death for elementary school-aged children in 2014, the CDC reported. The suicide death rate among 10- to 14-year-olds more than doubled from 0.9 per 100,000 in 2007 to 2.1 per 100,000 in 2014.

Nearly 13 percent of the children 17 and younger who were hospitalized for suicidal thoughts or attempts between 2008 and 2015 were ages 5 to 11.
